The North Coast of Paraíba is full of surprises. 18 km from the capital João Pessoa, we have the port city of Cabedelo.
Small, but full of curiosities. Kilometre zero of the Transamazonian Highway begins on the coast of Paraíba.
It is there that we have the famous and unique Jacaré sunset, where the musician Jurandir do Sax broke the record in the Guinnes Book, for performing Ravel’s Bolero for more than 20 years.
Heading north, we have the town of Lucena with its exotic beaches and centuries-old churches. But it is in Mataraca that we find indigenous villages of the brave and resistant Potiguaras.
On the border with Rio Grande do Norte is the town of Baía da Traição, with its old Portuguese cannons, white sandy beaches and Indian villages.
South Coast of Paraíba
The south coast of Paraíba is a whirlwind of surprises for visitors. Estuaries, cliffs that resemble kaleidoscopes, wild beaches, reefs and a turquoise sea that mesmerises tourists.
Other attractions are the seafood-based cuisine, fruits and vegetables without pesticides, ecological trails and the possibility of living unique experiences in the Quilombola communities in the cities of Conde and Pitimbu. Two important tourist cities on the south coast of Paraiba.
In Conde, the tourist has the possibility to know a unique, differentiated, exotic coastline with 10 beaches with unforgettable visual.
The most traditional and known nationally and internationally are those of Tambaba and Coqueirinho. Tambaba is 40 km from the capital, and Naturism is practised there, and it is the first official beach in the Northeast region and the second in Brazil.

2. Coqueirinho Beach – Conde
The attraction is part of the marvellous Costa do Conde, on the south coast of Paraíba, and has this name due to the concentration of coconut trees scattered throughout the strip of sand.
Coqueirinho Beach is one of the most charming in the region, full of beautiful coconut trees and colourful cliffs.
The sea is calm, super quiet, ideal to go also with children and enjoy without much worry.
The beach is also ideal for snorkelling, as the natural pools are ideal for spotting beautiful fish and marine animals, so when you are there take the opportunity to dive.
On this beach there is also an incredible viewpoint called Mirante Dedo de Deus from where you can have an incredible view of the region of Coqueirinho beach.
And if you want a little more adventure, be sure to take the buggy ride on the beach and get to know the cliffs up close.
During the week, it is very quiet, so if you like emptier beaches, prefer to go on weekdays. But on weekends, the movement is intense on this beach.
3. Tabatinga Beach – Conde
An environmental protection area, the cosy Tabatinga beach is 30 km from João Pessoa and is a good option for those who want to replenish their energy.
With a strip of golden sand and a green-coloured sea, the beach is ideal for sports such as sailing and windsurfing. The highlight of the place is the meeting of the river with the sea and the springs by the sea, known as maceiós.
Tabatinga Beach is one of the most beautiful in the region, and is a mandatory stop before reaching Tambaba.
This beach offers the perfect view, with warm and calm waters, surrounded by barrier reefs, and surrounded by huge cliffs.
This is a quiet beach, ideal for walking calmly and admiring the paradisiacal scenery. On the right side are the huge rocky walls that will make your photos even more beautiful.
On this beach, there is only one bar and a few guesthouses, so if you are spending the day, go prepared and bring a snack.
4. Tambaba Beach – Conde
The first beach in Brazil to be officially considered a nudist beach, Tambaba has a unique natural beauty, with warm emerald-coloured waters and an environment surrounded by colourful cliffs and corals.
It is the cliffs, the warm water and the emerald-coloured sea that make the place attractive to visitors, in addition to the walks, vegetation, cuisine and surfing practiced there.
The beach, which is 35 kilometres from João Pessoa, is part of an environmental protection area (APA) and is considered one of the cleanest in Paraíba.
The beach also has a coconut tree that was born on a rock located inside the sea, and has become one of the attractions of the place, especially for those who like to photograph.
Because it is a naturist beach, Tambaba is divided into two sides.
What separates the two areas is a staircase that takes naturists to a reception, where they are introduced to the rules of the place, among them, not being allowed to take pictures.

5. Ponta de Campina Beach – Cabedelo
Ponta de Campina Beach is large and pleasant, being considered one of the best in the state of Paraíba.
It is ideal for those who like quiet beaches and want peace and quiet, especially in low season, which is when the beach receives fewer visitors.
The waters there are transparent and calm, very good for those travelling with children and want to enjoy it more safely.
In addition, the beach is very suitable for kayaking, windsurfing and jet skiing. Fun is not lacking!
6. Red Sand Island – Cabedelo
Ilha da Areia Vermelha is 1.5 km from the coast, in front of Camboinha beach.
It is full of natural pools that are teeming with fish and corals within reach.
Due to the abundance of underwater beauty and transparency of the waters, the place is perfect for snorkelling. But there is a catch: the island only appears during low tide, when the water depth reaches only 1.80 metres.
7. Cabo Branco Beach – João Pessoa
Favourite of the residents of João Pessoa, Cabo Branco beach is quite extensive and full of comfortable tents far from each other;
The fine, beaten sand attracts professional and amateur beach volleyball players, who find refreshment in the clear, calm and warm waters. Framed by cliffs that reach 40 metres in height, it is the perfect setting for walks, so much so that the seafront track is closed to cars every day from 5am to 8am, giving way to fans of running, walking and cycling.
8. Tambaú Beach – João Pessoa
Tambaú Beach belongs to the neighbourhood of the same name and is recognised as one of the best beaches in João Pessoa.
This region is home to a good number of hotels and several bars and restaurants, so the neighbourhood is always busy, both during the day and at night.
Tambaú has a good structure for those who visit it: on the promenade are the kiosks; on the sand, stallholders and street vendors. It is a beach with a beautiful look, many coconut trees and pleasant temperature.
The sea does not have strong waves and its colour is a little dark where the waves break and very greenish in the deeper areas.
In front of the beach (inland sea) are the natural pools of Picãozinho, which form at low tide and allow locals and tourists to see fish and dive into crystal clear waters.
It’s a very cool tour, which can be bought at the Tambaú promenade, next to Apetep (Association of Owners of Tourism Boats of João Pessoa).
It is worth remembering that the tour only takes place at low tide and has a maximum number of daily visitors, for the preservation of the place; therefore it is recommended to buy your ticket the day before the tour.
