There are approximately 35 kilometres of coastline, with flat and firm sands, perfect for walking; warm and shallow waters, great for swimming; as well as structured bars and restaurants. The integrated public transport system allows easy access to all of them. The beaches of: Atalaia, Aruana, Robalo, Náufragos, Refúgio and Mosqueiro.
Considered the most beautiful postcard of Aracaju, Atalaia beach is the most famous and closest to the centre.
It is on the edge of Atalaia where the best bars, restaurants, nightclubs and hotels in the city are located.
Recently revitalised, it has gained functionality with the implementation of leisure and social facilities: arbor, tennis courts, children’s playground, light fountain with the ballet of the waters, lakes, space for the practice of extreme sports, Tourism Police Station, Oceanarium and the J. Inácio Art and Culture Centre.
Located at the southern end of the capital, Mosqueiro is privileged by nature. To the east, the Atlantic Ocean, to the west, the Vaza Barris River with clean waters and preserved mangroves, as well as islands that appear at low tide.
The Croa do Goré, the most famous and sought after, anchors a floating restaurant that allows visitors to savour the region’s gastronomic delights based on seafood.
It is possible to stroll through this paradisiacal setting aboard the catamaran Velho Chico and other vessels.
The meeting of the Vaza Barris River with the sea and the sunset complete this unforgettable spectacle.
On the banks of the Sergipe River, in the north of the capital, the Industrial Neighbourhood waterfront is one of Aracaju’s new tourist attractions.
It is equipped with a cycle path, promenade, children’s playground, craft centre, bars and restaurants, which offer excellent dishes of Sergipe cuisine, such as fish and shrimp moqueca.
The island of Santa Luzia with its beautiful coconut grove, the fishermen’s canoes with their colourful sails in the wind, the waters of the Sergipe River and the breeze that blows refreshing the summer days invite you to stroll through this beautiful landscape.
Installed on the Atalaia waterfront and shaped like a turtle, the Oceanarium houses 20 aquariums that show the diversity of Sergipe’s maritime and fluvial flora and fauna. Several species of fish, turtles and other marine animals attract children and adults.
Visitors are monitored by biologists from the Tamar Project, who manage the unit.
One of the highlights of this tourist attraction is the ocean tank with 150,000 litres of water, which reproduces the environment of the seabed on the Sergipe coast. Stingrays, groupers and nurse sharks can be seen up close.
