Imbassaí Beach in the Costa dos Coqueiros has awakened to tourism recently, from the inauguration of the Green Line, a highway that connects Salvador to Aracaju (AL), passing through Praia do Forte, Arembepe, Imbassaí, among others.

Imbassaí stands out for being a natural paradise with 10 km of beach and 6 km of river flanking the sea.

Imbassaí beach is 65 km from Salvador, on the Green Line Tourist Route, between high dunes and with 6 km of beaches. Imbassaí is located in the city of Imbassaí.

It is located within the city of Mata de São João and only 14 km from Praia do Forte.

Thus, getting to the shore depends a lot on where you are staying and how willing you are. This is because access to the salt water can be: with emotion, made by raft by the river; by bicycle, from the fishing village; on foot through the dunes; or even by golf cart, offered by a resort in the region, on a wooden path in the middle of the forest reserve.

Imbassaí, which in Tupi means “path of the river”, is located in the municipality of Mata de São João, on the Costa do Coqueiros in Bahia and about an hour’s drive from Salvador.

Tourists can choose whether to bathe in the river or sea or just lie on a sun lounger, on a dune or on the sand of the beach.

Those who prefer adventurous routes can enjoy bicycle rides on the bike path that borders the coast, visit the Klaus Peter park, dive in the Jauara lagoon, bathe in the Dona Zilda waterfall and even swim in the natural pools of Santo Antônio beach.

The itineraries focused on natural attractions, among dunes, coconut trees and palm trees, can be completed with buggy rides or vans that lead to destinations another 15 minutes from Imbassaí beach, either on the south side, at Praia do Forte, or on the north, at Costa do Sauípe.

The area is surrounded by coconut palms, dunes and beautiful rivers, ideal for sports such as rafting, canoeing and angling.

Points of great beauty, such as the Dona Zilda waterfall and the Jauara lagoon, are a must on any local itinerary.

At Imbassaí beach, the vast reefs form warm and crystalline natural pools during low tide, providing delicious baths for the whole family.

Since then, the village began to receive investments from international hotel chains.

Thus began, three years ago, the history of the Grand Palladium Imbassaí Resort & Spa, located in the Imbassaí Reserve, surrounded by cashew trees, coconut groves and native and protected forest.

Unlike other destinations in Bahia, Imbassaí Beach still has vast virgin areas.

The meeting of the Imbassaí River with the sea is one of the attractions of the region.

The tents are located on the strip of sand between the beach and the river, offering cold drinks and fried fish and seafood snacks, as well as the traditional acarajé on the trays of the baianas.

The six kilometers of beaches are bordered by high dunes, which hide the Imbassaí River, famous in the region for offering a peaceful and invigorating freshwater bath.

It was the Indians who nicknamed the place Imbassaí, or “path of the river”, in Tupi-Guarani. Its various springs form freshwater passages that flow in cascades and rapids, parallel to the dunes on their way to the sea.

Imbassaí is located in the Conservation Unit – Green Line, the municipality is 63km from Salvador and just 13km ahead of Praia do Forte within the city of Mata de São João.

It brings together attractions for those seeking ecological and adventure tourism, with special spots for rafting and sandboarding.

Imbassaí on the Costa dos Coqueiros has recently awakened to ecological tourism, since the inauguration of the Green Line.

After the construction of this road, which interconnects all the tourist points of the Costa dos Coqueiros, the primitive village began to be prepared with hotel and service infrastructure, gaining, every day, new equipment to welcome and better serve visitors.

The inns, bars and restaurants are spread over an area of 3km², between cashew trees, coconut trees and forest.

The 6 km of beaches are bordered by high dunes, which hide the Imbassaí River, famous in the region for offering a peaceful and invigorating freshwater bath. The tents are located on the strip of sand between the beach and the river, offering cold drinks and fried fish and seafood snacks, as well as the traditional acarajé, on the trays of the baianas.

Access to the beaches is only possible for pedestrians, as the rivers that border them form a natural barrier for vehicles, which increases the tranquility of the village.
