Luís Correia is a municipality of northeastern Brazil, located in the north of the state of Piauí.

It is one of the four coastal municipalities of Piauí, and also one of the most visited by tourists and bathers throughout the year.

On weekends, many residents of Teresina hit the road to Luís Correia, which is home to the best stretch of coastline in Piauí;

Some local resorts, such as Coqueiro and Atalaia, have tents that get crowded. Others, such as Carnaubinhas, remain unspoilt and charming.

The city of Luís Correia has the longest coastline in Piauí – 46 kilometres, more than half of the state’s coastal area

Piauí’s small coastline, which is why it is little explored, makes it a good destination for those looking for quiet beaches.

The largest number of beaches in Piauí are in Luís Correia, which also has 4 beautiful lagoons and a cluster of dunes that can be explored, the Lençóis Piauienses, which is also part of the Rota das Emoções or map of the Route of Emotions in the northeast.

The highlight of the city is also its seaport, the only one in Piauí, and its seafood-based cuisine.

Still on the coast is the cheerful Praia do Atalaia, considered the party point for tourists. This beach has more urban characteristics, modern architecture, but with restaurants and bars with natural aspects such as wood and carnauba straw.

Those looking for rest soon identify with the Praia Peito de Moça, a curious name for its formation of dunes in the sea resembling a pair of girl’s breasts, and the Praia do Arrombado, baptised so for its strong waves that reach its sloping sand.

Here, bars are rustic and the show is due to nature with the right to shade and fresh water!

My favourite is Macapá Beach, but I want you to go there and find out why.

Near Luís Correia, in Cajueiro da Praia, the Penteada Tree is one of the famous tourist spots in the region.

A tamarin tree that has grown leaning because of the strong coastal winds that seem to have also lovingly combed its crown. The beautiful tree defies creativity and, because it is so popular, has been given a square around it.

It is also worth a visit to Barra Grande, one of the jewels of Piauí.
