The Entre Rios, in Bahia, is one of the most famous beaches of the Coconut Coast or Costa do Coqueiro. It is located on the Linha Verde, 119 km from Salvador.
Subaúma is one of the beaches most sought after in the region for its beauty and pleasant climate.
In Subaúma, you will find a simple village, locals, markets and restaurants
.
Nobody doubts that Bahia has one of the most beautiful coastlines in Brazil.
But, with so many beauties in what is the longest coastline in the country, sometimes it is difficult – even for a Bahian – to know all the charms that the state has to offer.
These days I finally got to know one of the beautiful beaches of the North Coast of Bahia.
I’m not talking about the famous Praia do Forte, Imbassaí, Sauípe, Guarajuba and Arembepe. I’m talking about Subaúma! Do you know this beach belonging to the municipality of Entre Rios? No? Then it’s time to plan to enjoy some time at this beach that is just after Sauípe and before Conde, Baixio and Mangue Seco.
Are you going to ask me what’s in Subaúma?
In addition to being located between beautiful beaches, which allows you to visit other places on the coast, Subaúma is one of the quietest places in the region, which allows you to enjoy the local beauty, obviously the beach, without much crowding or massive presence of other people.
The sunset among the coconut trees is another good choice in the region.
As well as other beaches of the Costa dos Coqueiros, belonging to the municipalities of Camaçari, Mata de São João and Entre Rios, in Subaúma you will find a village, locals, markets and restaurants.
This beach does not have a mega structure to receive tourists, like Imbassaí and Praia do Forte, but its simplicity is precisely the difference.
If you are looking for a beach to get away from the noise and seek silence, peace, a greater connection with nature without many people around, then you are looking for Subaúma.
My two visits to Subaúma were quick.
In one of them I did the round-trip scheme, that is, I went and came back on the same day, which gave me enough time to enjoy the beach, the river and the Nano Beach Club.
The place works on the Day Use system. Upon payment of a fee, which is reversed in consumption, the visitor can enjoy the structure, such as swimming pool, hammocks, tables, among other facilities. Usually, a DJ livens up the atmosphere at certain times of the day.
About the beach, it is good to be aware. Some stretches have currents that deserve attention, and are even signposted with the red flag of danger to bathers.
Find the best stretch to bathe. Don’t take any risks and go to the bottom. A little beach by the sea is enough to invigorate you.

Where to stay?
.Although it does not have many hotels and inns, you can choose one of the few options available, such as the Tree Bies Resort or the Pousada Praia de Subaúma. A good alternative is to stay in Porto de Sauípe, which is very close to Subaúma, and has many more possibilities between inns and villages.
The naturist beach Massarandupió also has accommodation options that can be considered when planning the trip.
Subaúma is close to the main resorts in the region, such as the Tree Bies Resort itself, the Grand Palladium, Costa do Sauípe, Iberostar, Tivoli and Vila Galé. It’s worth checking the distance and prices to see if any of these more luxurious options fit your budget.
When to go?
Subaúma, like all of Bahia’s coastline, can be visited at any time of year. In Bahia, depending on the period, the rains are scarce.
Subaúma, like all the coasts of Bahia, can be visited at any time of year.
But when they do appear, usually between the months from the end of March to before the beginning of September, they are the most favourable for a toró.
Subaúma can be visited at any time of year.
So, to ensure a little sunshine, favour the months from October to March, but don’t rule out the other months, as the weather here is temperamental. On the same day, it can rain, be sunny, rain again, break out in sunshine, and so on.
How to get there?
The best way to get to Subaúma is by car. If you are a tourist, perhaps the most interesting thing is to rent a car already at Salvador airport, so you will be free to visit not only Subaúma, but the other beaches in the region.
It is 111KM from Salvador Bahia Airport, which, with normal traffic, will give 1h41 of road. You only need to take the BA-099, which is pedestrianised at the height of Abrantes, in Camaçari, following until the entrance to Subaúma, with a short stretch of BA-506.
Another possibility is to take the bus to Subaúma.
From the bus station of Salvador, simply take the bus of the Atlântico company, bound for Sítio do Conde.
