Marimbus is a real wetland in the heart of Bahia, probably formed by the action of the mine drains, which resulted in a large plain with interconnected lakes.
In fact, its name, of African origin, means “wetlands”. Considered the “Pantanal da Chapada”, the region is home to typical Pantanal and Amazonian fauna, such as peacock bass, alligators and a wide variety of birds. Specimens of the Amazonian flora, such as the Victoria Regia, are found there.
