The most famous beach on the south coast of Pernambuco is Porto de Galinhas in Ipojuca.
The beaches of Piedade and Candeias are densely populated, surrounded by tall luxury buildings.
From Itapuama onwards, the pattern of the beaches changes to long, sparsely populated stretches of sand, where the locals fish and make handicrafts, and where there are many hotels and resorts.
