The Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, located on the eastern coast of the state of Maranhão, is the main tourism-inducing destination in the state. In its 155 thousand hectares, it houses diverse and fragile ecosystems, such as the restinga, the mangrove, and a dune field that occupies 2/3 of the total area of the unit, being the main attraction of the National Park due to the interdunar lagoons that form in the rainy season of the region.
