The Catabrigas Waterfall is a rare natural gem, surrounded by lush greenery, mountains, birds and ecological trails. It can be found on the outskirts of the Ibirajá district, in the interior of the municipality of Itanhém, in the far south of Bahia.

- Cachoeira dos Catabrigas is located less than 30 kilometres from Medeiros Neto, just 6 kilometres from the district of Ibirajá in the municipality of Itanhém.
- Itanhém, located on the border with the state of Minas Gerais, has a population of approximately 20,140 (IBGE 2010), made up of descendants of Indians, miners and blacks. Recently, it has also incorporated many sertanejos.
