The Discovery Route comprises the municipalities of Belmonte, Porto Seguro and Santa Cruz de Cabrália. is the second largest tourist destination in Bahia.
In addition, the Discovery Route has the Porto Seguro International Airport, as well as paved roads between the main locations in the region, which allow the regular offer of air and road transportation services.
It also has electricity, drinking water, sanitation and telecommunications services in several locations.
The Discovery Route region is home to three national parks – Descobrimento, Monte Pascoal and Pau Brasil – as well as environmental protection areas, indigenous reserves and clean water beaches and rivers.
