How to get to Arraial d’Ajuda

Arraial d`Ajuda is part of the municipality of Porto Seguro; therefore, the difference between getting to the headquarters of Porto Seguro and Arraial is very small: just a ferry crossing.

It doesn’t matter which way you choose to get there. Be it car, plane or bus… you will always have to cross the Bunharém River.

People who are on foot pay for the journey and this amount is only paid in one direction (from Porto Seguro to Arraial d’Ajuda); in the opposite direction there is no charge for pedestrians.

1. Airplane

The nearest airport to Arraial d’Ajuda is Porto Seguro Airport, a few kilometers from the city center. After arriving at the airport you will need to cross the river on a ferry.

2. Bus

Those who want to get to Arraial d’Ajuda by bus can count on the Porto Seguro bus station, which receives buses from companies such as São Geraldo/Gontijo, Águia Branca and Itapemirim.

3. Car

Both those coming from the south and those coming from the north should take the BR-101 to Eunápolis, and then the BR-376.

By car, there are charges each way for crossing the river that separates Arraial from Porto Seguro. Those who live in the region can present proof of residence and the price drops by half.

The ferry operates every day, 24 hours. At dawn, the interval between departures is one hour; during the day, 30 minutes.

It is a safe crossing and takes only ten minutes, but it is a simple and uncomfortable way. The distance from the airport and bus station to the ferry is no more than 5km.
