The municipality of Entre Rios in Bahia has the first official naturist or nudist beach.

The municipality of Entre Rios is formed by the administrative districts of Entre Rios (headquarters), Ibatuí, and Subaúma, this division is made by State law.

In addition to the districts, the municipality has several villages, including Sítio do Meio, Lagoa Redonda, Calçada Nova, Rio Preto, Prata, Capianga, Rio da Caatinga, Pedros, Cincos Estradas, Serraria, Cabuçu, Imbé, Catana I and II, Pedras, Malhadinha, Pimenteira, among others and also has the villages that are on the beaches, which are Subaúma, Massarandupió and Porto de Sauípe.

Entre Rios on the Costa dos Coqueiros has the first official naturist beach in Brazil.

The initial settlement of Subaúma, where the chapel of Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres was built, was born on the banks of the Joanes and Inhambupe rivers, hence the name of the region.

The first exploration of the land where the municipal seat is located today took place in the 16th century, with the granting of sesmarias to the Casa da Torre de Garcia D’Ávila.

It was chosen to host one of the bases of the Tamar Project (for the protection of sea turtles). It is 8 km from the Green Line by paved road. It has simple inns, restaurants and campsites.

2. Entradas Beach

Hidden stretch between Subaúma and Massarandupió, with no access except through these beaches. Deserted, with fine white sand and dunes that mix with the Atlantic Forest.

3. Massarandupió Beach

Massarandupió Beach is straight, with clear and fine sand, strong waves and coconut palms. It has a fishing village. It has a strip of 1 km between the road and the sea, with dunes that isolate it from a larger movement.

This is an area of environmental protection, there is also spawning of sea turtles. Access from Linha Verde (10 km of bad dirt road).

The Praia de Massarandupió is almost rectilinear, with soft and clear sand, calm sea whose shades between green and blue are beautiful, presenting small strips of rocks on the preamar line in some points.

The entire length of the beach is framed by a high row of dunes covered with undergrowth and imposing coconut trees.

Behind these dunes there is a valley about three hundred meters wide to a second line of even higher dunes of very white sands that limit the denser vegetation of Atlantic forest behind them.

The valley between the dunes of the sea and the forest is cut by a stream of rusty waters very hot in the afternoon, totally free of any pollution and which forms natural pools in some points.

To the north of the main entrance to the beach, the valley still has an intact mangrove forest about two kilometers long to the mouth of the stream, which closes Massarandupió from the north bordering Subaúma.

To the south of the main entrance by the beach, after about fifteen hundred meters, one finds some blocks of rocky slabs at the high tide line that make swimming in this place not recommended, but the look beautiful and the fishing satisfactory.

Three hundred meters further south is the marker for the official entrance to the naturist reserve, with a two hundred meter nudity adjustment strip, where men must undress completely and women can remain in “top-less”. From there to the south are one thousand eight hundred meters of nudity, freedom, fraternity, joy, relaxation, respect and peace.

Inside the naturist area, there are stalls with bar and restaurant services, which serve unparalleled snacks and very cold beer or soft drinks.

But it should be noted that nudity is only allowed (and even mandatory) within the naturist reserve. Under no circumstances is nudity tolerated in the surrounding area or in the village. Except in the naturist hostel.

The native women of Massarandupió make excellent handicrafts in colored piassava straw, making bags, mats, hats, sous plats, ventarolas and other objects that they sell at prices beyond inviting, exposed on the balconies of their own houses.

4. Porto Sauípe

It has coconut trees, dunes and rocks along the shore. The waves are strong and the sand is fine and sunny. There are summer houses, fishermen’s houses and stalls.

At low tide, at the bar of the Sauípe River, a good area for bathing is formed on the opposite side of the village (arrange the crossing with a boatman). Interesting beach for fishing: whiting, groupers, reds and bulls-eyes (you can buy them at a good price).

From the Green Line, it is 4 km of paved and winding road. It has a pousada and simple restaurants.
