That Ceará is full of beautiful beaches is no secret.
There are dunes, colourful cliffs, white sand and incredibly blue waters. In addition, some of them reserve a great structure, with fully equipped and very comfortable beach kiosks.
The coastline of Ceará is 573 kilometres long and is divided into west, where the dunes predominate, and east, where the typical landscape is composed of reddish cliffs.
Others, on the other hand, are more isolated, perfect for those who prefer more contact with nature.

1. Barra do Cauipe – Cumbuco
Extensive, it attracts kitesurf lovers.
The movement is concentrated in the right corner, where there is a perfect lagoon for beginners in the sport.
With calm and warm waters and tents in the surroundings, the beach also attracts families with children and tourists arriving by buggy.
To get there by car Barra do Cauipe, from Cumbuco, there are two accesses: one of 22 km, by the old road of the Port of Pecém, and another of 10 km, skirting the shore, which starts at Cumbuco Beach (in the second option, consult the conditions of the road, which undergoes paving works).
2. Canoa Quebrada – Aracati
Some of the most beautiful beaches in the Northeast are in the state of Ceará, and Canoa Quebrada is another highlight among them.
The beach, situated between cliffs, dunes and blue sea, also has a trendy nightlife and a soundtrack of much reggae and forró.
Visitors to the beach can go hiking and buggy rides through the dunes and horseback riding along the beach, as well as embark on the quiet sea of the region.
Canoa Quebrada is also known for its strong wind and it is common to see rafts and windsurfers gliding across the horizon.
The village has a great offer of services and accommodation and can be visited at any time of the year.
3. Flecheiras – CE
If you want to visit a beach in the northeast with paradisiacal scenery and still try new dishes based on seafood, you will love the gastronomy of the region, which incorporates seaweed as the main ingredient of the delicacies served in the restaurants of the charming beach of Flecheiras in Trairi in Ceará.
4. Praia das Fontes – Beberibe
Praia das Fontes is an ideal place for the family to enjoy a relaxing day and enjoy a beautiful landscape formed by freshwater spouts, caves, dunes and cliffs. It is only 5km away from the city centre.
5. Praia do Futuro – Fortaleza

Lagoons, dunes and beautiful beaches make Jeri, as it is kindly nicknamed, a real treat in the middle of the dunes.
The place, with its streets of soft sand and no streetlights, is ideal for people looking for relaxation.
The destination, besides being heavenly, is complete and has plenty of restaurants, many excursion options and sports, as well as a wide range of accommodation.
7. Lagoinha – CE
With good options of inns and restaurants, Lagoinha is located 124 km from Fortaleza and is a great option for those looking for paradisiacal beaches in the Northeast.
Its half-moon-shaped shore, covered with reddish dunes and coconut palms, is a unique landscape and enchants the eyes of all who visit it.
8. Lagoa do Paraíso and Lagoa Azul – Jericoacoara
One of several beaches in Ceará bathed by a lagoon, Paraíso lives up to its name.
Its landscape is formed by crystal clear waters and clear dunes, and its visitors can relax in the wooden chairs or in the hammocks installed over the water.
Lagoa Azul is another option for those looking to relax in the hammocks of a freshwater beach. It is smaller than the other beaches in Jericoacoara, but just as beautiful.
9. Meireles – Fortaleza
The point of Avenida Beira Mar has a long, beautiful and busy promenade, which welcomes visitors for walks and cycling during the day, and a craft fair at night. It is impossible not to be enchanted by the immense green of the sea, contrasting with the urban scenery that surrounds the waterfront.
10. Morro Branco – Beberibe
Famous among tourists and residents of Fortaleza, the Praia de Morro Branco is full of attractions and deserves to be highlighted in a visit to Ceará.
Cliffs, dunes, rivers and lagoons share space and form a charming setting.
The Labyrinth of Morro Branco, the meeting of the Choró River with the sea, and the handicraft centre of Beberibe are indispensable tours.
11. Mundaú – CE
The beach is part of the municipality of Trairi and houses a cosy and traditional fishing village near the meeting of the Mundaú River with the sea.
The peaceful and quiet atmosphere of the village makes it a perfect destination for those who want to enjoy the beauties of the northeast in a place where the movement of tourists is not intense.
When in Mundaú, be sure to dive in the natural pools during low tide, take a walk along the Mundaú River and check out the sunset on top of the dunes near the village.
12. Ponta Grossa – Canoa Quebrada
53km away from the city centre is Ponta Grossa Beach, a green and red paradise that combines the colour of the sea with its cliffs, dunes and coconut trees.
But forget about using a regular car to reach this destination, as the rocks along the way require a buggy or a 4×4 car.
13. Tatajuba – CE
In addition to its wonderful greenish waters, Tatajuba in Camocim still offers its visitors a buggy ride through the dunes, up paddle and kaiak.
